Distortion, intermittency, volume fluctuations and such are often the result of moisture build-up rather than any hearing aid defect. Moisture can also cause corrosion of battery contacts, hinges, and other mechanical components over time, further hindering performance. In order to correct this, the hearing aid audiologist usually has to send the unit back to the manufacturer for repair, unless they can rectify it themselves. Once activated by the user, a thin red line lengthens each day, and when the timer window is completely red (2 months), the depleted Dry-Brik® should be replaced with a newly-activated one.

How it works
It takes three things to effectively dry a hearing instrument:
-Heat: Heating up the Dry & Store causes the moisture in the hearing aid to evaporate.
The temperature is raised but cannot harm the hearing aid.
-Moving air: To remove moisture from the hearing aid, heat alone is not enough. Moving air pushes water molecules into the air stream and away from the hearing aid.
-Dry-Brik® II: a special desiccant that absorbs the moisture.
