Eckel Booths/Rooms

Eckel Noise Control Technologies has been providing acoustic solutions since 1952, and, with in-house design, manufacturing and installation facilities, can offer a complete service when it comes to Audiology Test Rooms.

Eckel engineers are highly skilled, many are degree qualified and most are members of the Institute of Acoustics.

Audiology facilities need to be acoustically treated for two main reasons:
1. To prevent unwanted noise entering the test environment and affecting the integrity of the test procedures to be undertaken.
2. To keep patients’ consultations private. A raised voice is often required to communicate with the patients attending an Audiology department; therefore it is as important for these conversations to be kept within the room as it is for the prevention of unwanted noise to enter.

Many existing and most future sites are likely to be subjected to increasing noise from aircraft, road traffic and other extraneous sources. The low noise levels required in Audiology rooms will only be achieved by specialist design and construction of "Test" rooms.

Well established principles of sound insulation should be employed in the design of Audiology rooms and the advice of a specialist in acoustics, such as Eckel, should be sought at an early stage.

The airborne sound insulation performance requirements of internal partitions are closely linked to intrusive noise criteria. However, another very important factor is "privacy", that is, the extent to which conversations and activities in one area are audible in an adjacent area. The recommended privacy factor for Audiology rooms is 80, where 75-80 is audible but not intelligible and >80 is inaudible.

Eckel specialists can assist in all aspects of room design and location in order to achieve maximum performance.

Depending upon the use, the specification and budget limitations we can offer rooms/booths from our standard ranges or bespoke facilities, which are tailored to exact requirements.

Eckel Bespoke Audiology rooms are designed and constructed to the highest quality and satisfy the published standards.

Eckel Bespoke Audiology rooms are tailored to individual requirements, but generally include:
• "Room within a Room" design to maximise performance, and to meet the requirements of published standards.
• High performance acoustic doors.
• Fully isolated floors, with no threshold barrier at the doorway.
• Fabric finish to internal modular panel walls in a variety of colourways.
• Suspended tile ceiling with integral, low noise, lighting.
• Full perimeter, 3- compartment dado trunking with switched, double socket power outlets.
• Attenuated ventilation.
• Colour coordinated carpet.

Eckel options can include:
• Multi-glazed observation windows.
• One-way viewing observation windows.
• Dedicated air-conditioning systems.
• Emergency lighting.
• Special Jack Panels.
• Treatment to Control/Observation Room.

Progress Hearing BV has been working with Eckel for many years and are their preferred distributor for the Benelux countries and German speaking territories in Europe.
